Cha Zhi Ji – Wuyi Rock Tea Tie Luo Han (铁罗汉)
Tie Luo Han ("Iron Arhat") is the earliest and most robust of the Four Famous Wuyi Rock Tea Cultivars. First recorded in 1782, this tea has been treasured for over two centuries for its bold character, lingering fragrance, and thick body. Grown in the rocky crevices of Wuyishan, it is traditionally hand-processed each spring using refined techniques passed down through generations.
Its tightly rolled leaves are greenish-brown with a soft luster. Upon brewing, Tie Luo Han reveals a golden-orange liquor with a distinctive floral aroma akin to orchid and bamboo. The taste is thick, smooth, and sweet with a layered richness and a powerful rock rhyme (岩韵). With aging, it may develop subtle medicinal notes prized by seasoned tea drinkers.
Tasting Profile:
- Aroma: rich and deep, floral with herbal undertones
- Taste: strong and mellow with lingering sweetness
- Texture: thick, rounded, and smooth
- Rock Rhyme: bold and persistent, classic yancha quality
Tie Luo Han is a powerful tea full of depth and heritage – perfect for experienced connoisseurs seeking a commanding Wuyi experience with complexity and aging potential.
