Cha Zhi Ji Wuyi Rock Tea – Lao Jun Mei (老君眉)

Lao Jun Mei is one of the rarest and most ancient varietals among Wuyi Rock Teas. Its name originates from the secluded Jiulongke area, where Buddhist monks from the historic Tianxin Yongle Temple once cultivated and refined this tea. Due to extremely limited cultivation, Lao Jun Mei is rarely seen or produced, making it a treasure for true connoisseurs.

🌿 Origin & Rarity

This rare small-leaf bush varietal grows in the Liu Guanzhai region, northwest of Huiyuan Keng – the heart of the Zhengyan zone in Wuyishan. With limited planting and declining production, Lao Jun Mei has become a protected legacy of Wuyi rock tea heritage.

🍵 Taste & Aroma

The dry leaves are tightly twisted, dark with a slight golden hue. When brewed, the liquor shines a clear amber-yellow. Aromas of caramelized sugar and mature floral notes emerge with warmth. The taste is rich, smooth, and vibrant, leaving a long-lasting sweetness and a powerful rock charm (岩骨). The aftertaste lingers with a subtle returning aroma, even after 10 infusions.
