Cha Zhi Ji Wuyi Rock Tea – Bu Zhi Chun (不知春)
Bu Zhi Chun, literally "Unaware of Spring," is a late-budding Wuyi Rock Tea cultivar harvested only in mid-to-late May. Also known as Wuyi Que She (Sparrow Tongue) for its fine, curved leaves, this rare tea emerges after the typical spring harvest, giving it its poetic name.
🌱 Origin & Craftsmanship
Grown in the renowned Shuiliandong region of Wuyishan, this tea is handcrafted in small batches by master artisans. Developed by Cha Zhi Ji since 1996, Bu Zhi Chun represents the artistry and restraint of traditional rock tea making, featuring balanced fermentation and precise charcoal roasting.
🌸 Aroma & Flavor
The dry tea has a faint chestnut scent. Once brewed, the liquor glows a clear amber-yellow. On the palate, it offers a mellow, smooth texture, floral and mineral notes, and hints of sugarcane or imperatae root (茅根). A cooling aftertaste lingers in the mouth, with a pronounced rock charm (yan yun) and deep throat resonance.
🍵 Tasting Experience
Bu Zhi Chun is known for its subtle complexity. The infusion is full-bodied yet gentle, with lasting sweetness and a distinctive stone-milk aroma (石乳香). Cold aroma is refined and enduring. The infused leaves are green with red edges, thick yet supple – a sign of excellent maturity and roasting.
