Cha Zhi Ji – Wuyi Rock Tea Bai Ji Guan (白鸡冠)
Bai Ji Guan is one of the Four Famous Wuyi Rock Tea Cultivars (大红袍、铁罗汉、水金龟、白鸡冠). This rare variety stands out for its lightly colored leaves and early spring harvest, typically beginning in late May. Its name, “White Cockscomb,” comes from the tea buds’ curved, pale appearance resembling a rooster’s crest.
Cha Zhi Ji’s Bai Ji Guan is crafted with traditional techniques and has been preserved as a signature varietal since 1999. The dry leaves are pale green to yellowish-white with tight strands and visible red speckles. The liquor is bright golden-orange, exuding a delicate floral fragrance with hints of fresh herbs and subtle peach-like sweetness.
Tasting Profile:
- Aroma: light floral and herbal with fresh corn sweetness
- Taste: smooth, crisp, slightly bitter but quickly sweetens
- Mouthfeel: thick, silky, and finely structured
- Rock Rhyme: strong and lasting
With its fresh, vibrant character and unique identity, Bai Ji Guan delivers a distinctly elegant Wuyi Rock Tea experience that lingers long after each sip.
