From Bamboo Baskets to Collector Jars: The Story Behind Our Vintage Liu Bao Teas
What does it mean to call a Liu Bao tea “vintage”? At Cha Zhi Ji, it means more than just age — it means origin, transparency, and reverence for the tea’s history.
For over a decade, we’ve introduced our most treasured Liu Bao teas through a unique ceremony called “A Shared Bond” (善緣慶匀), initiated by our founder Henry Yiow (邱顺昌). Rather than selling pre-divided or commercially repackaged teas, we respectfully opened entire 30kg aged tea baskets in front of fellow tea lovers, preserving both integrity and story.
The Five Vintage Liu Bao Teas
Since 2014, we’ve held this ceremony five times across Asia — each time revealing a different legendary Liu Bao tea:
- 1950s Pu Tian Gong Qing — Butterworth, 2014 (250 jars)
- 1950s Da Xin Hang — Kuala Lumpur, 2015 (350 jars)
- 1950s Fu Hua Hao — Beijing, 2016 (300 jars)
- 1970s SSHC — Kunming, 2017 (200 jars)
- 1980s VIVE — Kunming, 2019 (270 jars)
What Makes the Ceremony Special?
Each “A Shared Bond” event is hosted live, where we:
- Unseal full tea baskets in public view
- Evaluate the aging quality of the tea
- Weigh and divide the tea into 125g portions
- Seal each jar with red wax and handwrite its number
Through this ritual, the tea gains not just a new home — but a new life.
Now Available to Collect
