Update: Shipping to the United States Resumed

Effective Date: 22 November 2025

We are pleased to announce that standard shipping services to the United States have fully resumed. You may now place orders directly through our website checkout without needing to request a manual quote.

Important: US Customs Duties & Tax Policy

Please read the following terms carefully before placing an order for delivery to the United States.

By completing a purchase on Cha Zhi Ji, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding International Customs Duties:

1. Customer Responsibility for Taxes

All orders shipped to the United States are delivered on a DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) basis. This means:

  • The price you pay at checkout does not include US import duties, tariffs, or local taxes.
  • You, the customer, are solely responsible for paying any applicable charges imposed by US Customs upon the parcel's arrival.

2. Policy on Refusal to Pay Duties

If a customer declines to pay the required customs duties/taxes and the parcel is returned to us, the following refund policy applies strictly:

The Refund Calculation:
We will refund your order total MINUS the actual outbound shipping fee MINUS the return shipping fee charged to us by the carrier.

Refund Formula:
(Total Amount Paid) - (Actual Outbound Shipping Cost*) - (Actual Return Shipping Cost) = Refund Amount

*Note: Even if your order qualified for "Free Shipping," the actual cost we incurred to ship the item to you will be deducted from the refund in the event of a duty refusal.

Example Scenario:

  • You purchase tea/teaware for $100.
  • We pay $25 to ship it to you (Outbound Cost).
  • You refuse to pay US Customs tax; the carrier returns the item to us.
  • The carrier charges us $25 for the return journey (Return Cost).
  • Your Refund: $100 - $25 - $25 = $50 Refunded.

In the rare event that the shipping and return costs exceed the value of the goods, no refund will be issued.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these international shipping regulations to bring fine tea and antiques to your doorstep.

Update: DHL Shipping Option to the United States (Effective 19 October 2025)

We are pleased to inform our customers that shipping to the United States has now resumed via DHL Express.

Please note that since DHL is not our default shipping provider, we are unable to offer a flat-rate shipping fee as before. If you wish to place an order for delivery to the US, kindly contact our support team at support@store-chazhiji.com. Our team will manually quote you the exact DHL shipping cost based on your order and destination before proceeding with your purchase.

Important Notes:

  • Customers are responsible for paying all customs duties and taxes imposed by US Customs upon arrival.
  • If a customer refuses to pay the customs duty, the parcel will be returned to us and DHL will charge Cha Zhi Ji for the return shipping cost.
  • In such cases, the refund amount will be deducted by the shipping and return cost incurred.

Example:
If your order total is $100 and the return shipping cost is $50, your refund amount will be $50.

If the shipping cost exceeds the order value (which is unlikely but possible), the customer will need to pay the additional return shipping cost, and no refund will be issued until the balance is cleared.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue working towards restoring normal shipping services to the United States.

U.S. Deliveries (Effective 9 October 2025)

Dear Tea Connoisseurs,

We would like to inform our U.S. customers that due to recent tariff-related shipping policies imposed by President Trump, Malaysia’s local postal service has temporarily suspended all parcel deliveries to the United States.

This situation is beyond our control and affects all merchants shipping from Malaysia. We are closely monitoring the updates from the postal authorities and will resume U.S. deliveries as soon as postal operations return to normal.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. We will publish an update on this blog and on our social media channels once shipping to the United States resumes.

Thank you for your continued support of Cha Zhi Ji (茶知己).

— Aaron, Cha Zhi Ji
